On March 16, 2026, Helical Fusion CEO Takaya Taguchi participated in the event “Scaling Planetary Solutions”, hosted by the Consulate of Switzerland in Japan (Swissnex) in Osaka.

The event explored a central question:
“How humans, technologies, and ecosystems can act together to address shared planetary challenges.”
Bringing together investors, financial institutions, public-sector leaders, and innovators, the event featured pitches from seven startups tackling global energy challenges from diverse technological perspectives.
Representing Helical Fusion, Taguchi introduced fusion energy as a long-term planetary solution, presenting the company’s vision of commercially viable fusion power generation and the broader potential of fusion as a foundational energy source for humanity.
During the discussion, commentator Dr. Takurou Murakami described the challenge as “the energy equivalent of SpaceX,” noting that technological breakthroughs alone are insufficient. Realizing transformative technologies requires the development of robust industrial supply chains.
In this context, Japan’s deep manufacturing expertise and industrial ecosystem were highlighted as a key advantage in advancing fusion energy.
The discussion even touched on a symbolic question:
How long until the DeLorean from Back to the Future arrives?
The remark captured a central theme of the event — that many of today’s ambitious visions begin as imagination, and progress is driven by the persistent effort to turn those visions into reality.
Helical Fusion continues working toward that future through the Helix Program.
